Eagle View 4x4 Track

Saunders Gorge Wildlife Sanctuary, South Australia

28th October, 2017

Saunders Gorge is located near Mount Pleasant, South Australia. The 4×4 Track is called Eagle View.

Quite a number of years ago, this was the first place I took a Land Rover off road. It was a really good day out with my Father-in-Law Ray and my mate Ronan. Then, the 4×4 track was fairly tame but had enough challenges fro someone who did not know what they were doing like myself at that point in time.

This trip was the first time I have taken out my Defender since I have fitted the upgrades and accessories I have fitted since buying the car in January just gone. The track is now far more challenging compared to my very first visit with lots of washouts and parts of the track that really lean the car over.

As you climb fairly high on the 4×4 track, you get to see some stunning views from many parts of the track. There are plenty of places to stop and eat lunch or have a drink and a snack. Also, as the land is a wildlife sanctuary, there are plenty of animals to spot along the way. I have not been here without seeing kangaroo’s and eagles.

It took around an hour and a half to get to Eagle View and the track took me around three hours to complete. This was without trying any of the four optional rougher sections as I my intention was to give the Defender a nice gentle test run this time out.

This is a really nice place to spend the day and the owners of the track and restaurant are really friendly.
